Hoop, There It Is!

“Nothing ever happens in Kingman!” This is a common complaint of the students around school. Wichita seems to be the only place around here to find entertainment.
Well, not anymore. A visit on Wednesday, September 28th, from the nationally-acclaimed Harlem Rockets basketball team proved that Kingman can host some exciting venues as well. We can thank the Lions Club of Kingman for bringing the Rockets to good ole’ K-Town.

First, a few facts about the Rockets: The Rockets have played in over 1700 games since the team was created in 1993. They are undefeated in all of those games. The Rockets have traveled all over the country, from Boston to Los Angeles.
As for the game itself, a huge crowd was on-hand, expecting an exciting and fun night. The Rockets didn’t disappoint. Our gym has never seen as many rim-rocking dunks and amazing ball-handling tricks as there were that night.

The Rockets also delivered in the area of comedy. There were several hilarious jokes and tricks which definitely added to the fun atmosphere.
Maybe now Kingman will become the hub for entertainment in South Central Kansas. OK, maybe not. But for one night, this little rural town had a taste a of big-city show. And what a show it was.
