Thank you so much to all of you who participated in the KAY club “Bring the Change” week for Pennies for Patients. We are ecstatic to announce that our school raised $1,115.82 in just 1 week! The money we raised will help fund research to find a cure for blood cancers. The class that raised the most money with $289.33 was 6th grade and the unlucky teacher whose class raised the least amount of money was Miss Payne and the Sophomores. The KAY club and the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society greatly appreciate your help in making this event a success! #TeamNorwich

USD 331 Counselors acknowledge the holiday season can be stressful. Here are the first 2 of 10 holiday prevention tips from the Mayo Clinic: 1. Acknowledge your feelings. If someone close to you has recently died or you can't be with loved ones for other reasons, realize that it's normal to feel sadness and grief. It's OK to take time to cry or express your feelings. You can't force yourself to be happy just because it's the holiday season. 2. Reach out. If you feel lonely or isolated, seek out community, religious or other social events or communities. Many may have websites, online support groups, social media sites or virtual events. They can offer support and companionship.

What a great week in 4th grade! Students learned about the courage, commitment and service of our service men and women. They learned the history of Arlington National Cemetery and the elite group of Honor Guards that guard the Tomb of the Unknown Soldiers. They discovered different things that are done to show honor at military funerals. To cap it off, they wrote letters of gratitude to veterans and then decorated the envelopes. Great job to Ms. Lampe’s 4th grade class!🇺🇸❤️🤍💙

USD 331 will have school today, Oct. 28 as scheduled. It’s wet out & drivers need to be extra cautious but temp is above freezing. Some bridges are slick. I believe we have a window of opportunity to get kids to school before temp drops temporarily. Drive safely.
Weather forecasters can't seem to make up their minds so we will be up early again evaluating the roads & weather. A decision will be made by approximately 6:00 a.m Wednesday. If you hear nothing = regular schedule; other options would be late start or cancellation. Stay tuned.
Due to the deteriorating conditions with sleet, rain and low temperatures, roads across the district are icy and slick. Sidewalks and parking lots at the schools are also glazed over. For that reason, we will be canceling school for today. Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2020. Temperatures are not forecast to rise about freezing until mid-afternoon. This is not officially a remote day. Stay safe. See you tomorrow! Go Eagles.
Due to the continuing bad weather in our forecast resuming after midnight, USD 331 is going to have a 2-hour late start tomorrow, Tuesday October 27. If the weather really deteriorates overnight, then we may revise this decision but we will have a late start at the very least least. Basically everything will be 2 hours later. This is a different "Late Start" schedule from what we have had for the last few years. School will start at 10:00 a.m. We will NOT have morning preschool tomorrow. We will Not serve breakfast. We will serve lunch at the regular time. Buses will run 2 hours later than normal. Hopefully by making this decision this evening, that helps parents that need to modify arrangements.

Covid Guidelines for Sub-State @ Little River on 10/24/20. Please read the guidelines prior to attending the event!Sub-State KSHSAA Safety Guidelines Event Attendance ATTENDANCE AT POSTSEASON EVENTS: limited to no more than 50% of the arena/facility capacity. Little River Gymnasium capacity is 1,100. I believe we can stay within the 550 if only teams/fans of teams playing are in attendance. It is VERY IMPORTANT to inform your team and supporters of match times, and fans should not arrive until immediately prior to the scheduled match time. Matches will start no earlier than the scheduled time. Once spectators are done watching participant/team or when they are done competing or eliminated from the event, spectators should leave the facility in a timely manner. This will take great cooperation and communication of all administration and schools competing at the Little River Sub- State. All help is appreciated with following this guideline so that we do not have to limit spectators wanting to support their teams. As teams are eliminated, attendance may become easier to manage. We will have personnel in place to adhere to the expected KSHSAA attendance guidelines, and this could involve holding spectators outside prior to the start of matches if needed. Masks/Social Distancing All spectators will be required to wear a mask while in attendance at the event. At least 6’ of social distancing is to be observed while in attendance. Family members may sit together in a pod but must wear a mask. Participants may, but are not required to, wear a mask while competing or during warm-up. When participants are done competing, they will wear a mask while seated on the bench and between matches. It is the coach’s responsibility to enforce the wearing of masks by their players when not actively participating. Tournament managers will monitor spectators. Spectators choosing not to wear a mask once admitted will be reminded to wear the mask. Those refusing will be asked to leave the event. When eating or drinking, masks can be removed, however, masks cannot remain off until the entire beverage is consumed. It is to be worn when not drinking. USD 331 Board of Education Announces First Day of School for 2020-21. Go to our website for more information in the "NEWS" section on bottom of page.
Check our website regularly for updates on planning & preparation for the 2020-21 school year. Be assured, we WILL be having school this year. We will have in-person as well as remote/virtual options. USD 331 has had our own Virtual School for many years. The difference between ours and the ones you see advertised on television is that we don’t market to the entire state. We created our virtual school to fill a need for OUR kids and they are who we focus on. The ones on TV are in it to make money. Your virtual school, USD 331 Virtual Eagle, exists to serve our kids. We do accept students from neighboring districts with special circumstances but we do not market & recruit. If YOU are a 331 parent & are considering a virtual route, we can meet that need. We use the same curricular software platforms as many that you see on advertisements. We provide the computer, we have the teachers. Our difference is- you know our teachers because they live & work in our communities.
Parents of USD 331 students: We emailed you a survey on Wednesday asking you to share your thoughts on returning to school. We value & need your opinions. The survey is also posted to Skyward Family Access. Please complete it one time.
