Please fill out the above form if your child has ANY health conditions that may arise during school hours or if they take ANY medication/inhalers while at school.

MEDICATION POLICY
When it is necessary for school personnel to assist in administering medication to students, parents shall give written notification to the school regarding the medication by completing the USD 331 Medication form. This form is available from the school office and/or the school nurse.

Link for full policy below:
"Except as provided in subsections C(3) and E of this policy, all prescription or non-prescription medication, if taken at school, shall be taken under the supervision of the school nurse or an unlicensed designee who administers the medication under the supervision of the school nurse."

WHEN YOUR CHILD SHOULD STAY HOME
This is to promote the wellbeing of all students, if you have any questions feel free to contact the school nurse.

Primary reasons to keep your student home from school include the following conditions. Your student may not return to school until they have been
fever-free and symptom-free for a
minimum of 24 hours.

  • Fever >100.3 F: Should stay home until there is NO FEVER for 24 hours WITHOUT MEDICATION. Call your doctor if the fever is with pain, rash, weakness, vomiting or diarrhea.

  • Diarrhea & Vomiting: Should stay home with one event of watery diarrhea or vomiting. Call your doctor if diarrhea or vomiting continues or with fever, rash or weakness.

  • Unexplained Rash/Full Body Rash: should stay home until rash is gone or there there is a doctors note after a visit

  • Persistent Coughing: Should stay home if cough is worse than you would expect with a cold. Call your doctor if they have trouble breathing or a fever.

  • Active Head Lice: Should stay home until all lice are gone

  • Eye Infection: Redness with drainage or crusting, may return after evaluation by a doctor with a note to return to school

When there is any doubt in your mind about sending your student to school, consult your doctor. We may ask for a “Release to Return to School” from your doctor before returning to school.

IF YOUR CHILD STARTS TO FEEL SICK WHILE AT SCHOOL

The school nurse is here to help. Parents will be contacted if the school nurse or designated person feels they need to be sent home, see a doctor, or to update them on the student's condition/ask for parent recommendations.

Students should go through the nurse to be sent home if they are feeling sick while at school. If parents call the office to have a sick student sent home, they will be sent to the nurse for an assessment prior to being sent home.

2023-24 COVID-19 Update

Kingman-Norwich USD 331 will not track or require reporting of COVID cases. Please stay home if you are sick. The following information is being provided as a resource.

COVID Testing:
A limited number of free COVID home antigen tests are available and can be picked up at all district buildings. Please reach out to your school nurse to obtain tests.

School personal will no longer be conducting testing.
Exposure:
If you are a known exposure to an individual who has tested positive for COVID, you should monitor for symptoms for 10 days and test if symptoms develop. Normal attendance is suggested as long as the individual is symptom free.
Return to School/Work After Testing Positive:
Staff and students who test positive should isolate at home for
5 days after the onset of symptoms. On Day 6, those who are fever-free for at least 24 hours without the use of fever reducing medication, and showing improving symptoms, may return to the school/work setting. It is highly recommended that students and staff wear a mask while around others through Day 10 to prevent spreading to others as you may still be shedding the virus.

The district does not plan to actively enforce the information outlined above, but will rely on our community to keep all of us as healthy as possible.

IMMUNIZATION POLICY

Kansas Law KSA 72-6262 requires all students attending school in Kansas be immunized against certain diseases. This same law authorizes Boards of Education to exclude from school those students not in compliance with the law.

Parents will be requested to update their child’s health records during enrollment. The school nurse is the official contact person should you have any questions concerning your child’s immunization status.
