1. Who owns the childcare center?

Eagles Nest is owned by the school district, USD #331. The Center is operated in partnership with the Kingman Healthcare Center.

2. Who paid for the construction?

USD 331 was very blessed to receive grants through the Kansas Children’s Cabinet and Trust Fund, Childcare Aware and the Patterson Family Foundation. In addition, Kingman Healthcare Center is subsidizing salary expenses for employees.

3. Where is it located?

Eagles Nest is located inside Kingman Elementary School at 607 North Spruce. The entrance is off "F" Street. On Main Street, turn East onto F, then follow the alley behind the school. The entrance is at the bottom of the hill.

4. What ages do you care for?

We offer care to children ages 2 weeks to Kindergarten.

5. What are the costs?

  • Children ages 2 weeks to 12 months and walking $32.00/day

  • Children 12 months and walking to Kindergarten $28.00/day

  • AM/PM part time (less than 5 hours) $20.00 per day.

6. When will it open?

At this time, we estimate construction will be complete in mid-May. We hope we can be open on or around August 1.

7. What days and times are you open?

Monday through Friday, 7am-6pm. We have scheduled days to be closed around the holidays. If USD 331 cancels schools for inclement weather, Eagles Nest will be closed also.

8. What are the qualifications for the staff?

What training do they have? Employees of Eagles Nest must have:

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • Negative TB test

  • Current health assessment

  • Fingerprint status “not prohibited”

  • Orientation Certificate

  • Current Pediatric First Aid and Pediatric CPR Certifications.

  • Foundations for Safe and Healthy Early Care Facilities

    Trainings (18 clock hours)

  • Annual in-service training.

9. Is the center open to the public?

We are operating on a three tiered system. USD 331 employees will have first preference for spots. Kingman Healthcare Center will have the next option for slots. After that, any remaining spots will be open to the public.

10. How many children can you take?

We have two separate rooms that are each licensed as individual centers. Each center will be able to take approximately 23 children, depending on the ages of the children.

11. How is the center licensed?

We will be fully licensed as a childcare center through the Kansas Department of Health and Environment.

12. Will the kids get time outside?

Yes! We have a brand new playground with turf surface and beautiful equipment for our kids to utilize.

13. Will the playground be open to the public?

No, it won’t. Our regulations won’t allow our childcare children to mix with other children during the day. In the evenings and on weekends it will be locked to ensure the turf surface is protected and the equipment stays in tip top shape.
