The Norwich Lady Eagles finished their season by placing fourth in the state tournament. The Eagles finished 22-4, winning the BQC Tournament, placed third in 54 Classic and finished 2nd in the HOPL league. With a record of 18-2 we were the number one seed in the Oxford sub-state. Norwich walked through Wichita Academy and Wichita Classic to win our third sub-state in the past four years and seventh state appearance the past twelve years.
The Eagles earned the number one seed at the state tournament and beat the number eight seed Canton-Galva in the quarter game at Dodge City. Norwich had a rematch with Doniphan West from 2011, We had a really good start in which we led by seven at end of 1st quarter, four at halftime and seven midway in the third quarter. The speed and pressure by Doniphan team created problems for us as we seemed to become gassed. Doniphan defeated the Eagles despite a tremendous showing by the Eagles.
The third place game against Frankfort was a difficult game in which we weren't able to gain momentum due to a very cold shooting afternoon. We felt if we could hit some shots and gets some stops we could get back into the game. While getting some stops defensively in the third quarter our cold shooting continued and fell short to a talented Frankfort team.
The team and coaches would like to thank everyone for your support throughout the season! We had a wonderful experience and many memories were made throughout the season. The parents of these young women should be very proud of their daughters!
