Please help us welcome Erin Walter to the teaching staff at Norwich School! Erin was born and raised in California and has been a resident of Kansas for 13 years now. Mrs. Walter originally lived in Wichita and after meeting her husband and getting married, they moved to Norwich. Norwich is where Erin's husband grew up. The Walters have lived Norwich for 7 years now and it has quickly become her home. Erin and her husband Nathan have two sons, Luke and Dylan. Luke will be starting kindergarten and Dylan will be starting AM Preschool in the fall at Norwich Elementary. Mrs. Walter has been a para educator at Norwich for 7 years and it was during that time that she realized how much she wanted to go back to school to get her education degree. Erin received her Associates of Arts from Cowley Community College and went on to receive her Bachelors degree in Elementary Education through the TAP program at WSU. Mrs. Walter will continue her education in the fall and will be studying to receive her Masters degree in Special Education from WSU as well. Working in the Special Education world is Mrs. Walter's passion and she looks forward to helping all children reach their goals! #TeamNorwich #GoEagles #DifferenceMaker

Norwich School is excited to add Emily Schlickau to the team as the 7-12 social studies teacher! Mrs. Schlickau lives about 10 miles southwest of Norwich in Harper County with her husband, Gabe, and kids Harry and Lena. Most of her free time is spent supporting her kids’ activities including 4-H, rec and school sports and showing cattle. Emily also enjoys gardening, cooking and running. For the last three years Mrs. Schlickau has been at Harper Elementary as a sixth grade teacher. Her career experience prior to becoming a teacher includes time as a food scientist at Cargill, a fitness instructor and stay at home mom. In 2017 Emily became a paraeducator while she returned to school to obtain a Master’s degree in Teaching Arts from Kansas State. Mrs. Schlickau feels called to teach government, civics and history. She believes it is important to build a foundation of knowledge in these subjects to allow young people to grow into informed citizens. To this end, Emily is passionate about providing learning opportunities that fit kids’ personal learning styles. Please help us welcome Emily to the Norwich School teaching staff!

From: Kingman County Health Department July 14, 2021 As of 9:15 today, we have 2 active COVID-19 cases. One of these people is currently in the hospital. None of our active cases are vaccinated. If you are wondering how Kingman County is doing on COVID-19 vaccinations, please check out the data on the Kansas COVID-19 vaccination website: https://www.kansasvaccine.gov/158/Data To break it down per 1000 population, we are sitting around 42% for fully vaccinated people among all vaccine eligible people (12 years and older) in the county. For total county population, the percentage of fully vaccinated individuals is around 36%. We do have all 3 COVID-19 vaccines on hand to help improve these vaccination rates-give us a call at 620-532-2221 to schedule an appointment-we can vaccinate anyone 12 years and older. Anyone who has had COVID-19 still needs to be vaccinated, as we are finding vaccination is providing a more robust immune response in comparison to natural infection. Infection rates are trending upward, especially in areas where vaccination rates are low-viruses are going to spread and adapt when allowed to be transmitted more freely. Fully vaccinated people have a much lower risk of serious illness and hospitalization…and quarantine is not required when fully-vaccinated people are identified as close contacts to people testing positive for COVID-19. Fully vaccinated people are also not asked to mask up when in public in most settings. If anything, we encourage everyone to consider vaccination’s benefits. We have come a long way in this pandemic, but the pandemic is not over-there are people still getting seriously ill; let’s continue to look out for each other.

We are excited to be introducing Rose Benge as our staff at Norwich Schools! Rose and her husband Jason moved to Norwich in 2007, and all 3 of their children have attended Norwich since preschool. The Benge's are actively involved with the Norwich Rec and Norwich Booster Club. Mrs. Benge was inspired to become a teacher when working as a special education para. She graduated from Southwestern College with a degree in Elementary Education and has taught 6th grade in Conway Springs for the last 5 years. Rose said she became a teacher "to make a difference in her students' lives and teach them skills that go far beyond the classroom." When she is not teaching she can most likely be found watching her kids play sports. Mrs. Benge also enjoys spending time at the lake with friends and family. She is really looking forward to teaching English Language Arts and Math to Norwich 7th and 8th graders as well as assistant coaching the HS volleyball team and MS girls basketball team. Help us welcome Rose to the teaching staff at Norwich School! #TeamNorwich #GoEagles #DifferenceMaker
